Hi levi123,
With more White Hats than ever joining the dark side, many are still dubious about entering the perceived cat-and-mouse game that is Black Hat SEO.
The industry still generally believes Black Hat to be unethical, temporary and not worth the effort. Now, we all know the former points have no credence whatsoever - in SEO, things are constantly changing and all of our work is temporary, whether it’s Black Hat or White Hat. Algorithms change, rankings change, sites appears, sites disappear; you get the point. So where does that leave our curious White Hat SEOs who have been feeling an itch for a darker variety of coffee lately? Check out the full post here.
Well, as previously discussed, we’ve seen more of them attending UnGagged and joining Black Hat World in an attempt to learn more about the latest black hat SEO tactics. Like children in a candy store, they express a fervent curiosity about this previously unexplored side of the coin, and we can understand why. After being super glued to Google’s teet for so long, they've grown accustomed to following the SEO guidelines as if it were gospel. They never really took the time to see the creativity and ingenuity of Black Hat SEO methods.
Well, until now, that is.
Assuming they haven’t been scared off the forum and retreated back to Google’s arms, we see them set their focus on automation or they put a Black Hat spin on their previously White label projects. Those who outsource their work tend to gravitate toward ordering the link building services they previously shunned to honour the great exalted one Google - as if by publicly shunning those ‘evil’ Black Hat services, Google would take notice and bump their rankings. Yeah, right!
Those of you experienced in the dark arts will no doubt already know the type of services budding Black Hat SEOs tend to gravitate toward. That’s right, web 2.0s and PBNs. However, what newcomers may fail to realise is that these services aren’t quite as plug-and-play as they may seem. Ok, so they still have a lot to learn. Baby steps.
But this is also why we do what we do. By throwing some light on the mainstream hypocrisy and opening a few new eyes to the toolboxes available outside Search Console, UnGagged hopes to muddy the waters enough to dispense with any classic notion of White or Black. It's about what works and what makes money.
Despite their quirks, we should welcome our new bi-hat-curious friends. After all, we all have the same DLC, so let’s play Google together.
